Kojima wanted Mads instead
Death Standing Developer Hideo Kojima admitted that Keanu Reeves was a major contender to play the main character for his latest game, but he set his eyes on Mads Maddiloson instead.
The suggestion to star Keauna Reeves came from non-other than Nicolas Winding Refn, who also plays the character of Heartman in Death Stranding. Hideo Kojima went on the SDCC stage and said: ” I originally was recommended Keanu Reeves but I wanted Mads”.
Not all is lost though for Keanu, as he bagged himself the lead role for an upcoming videogame developed by CD ProjektRed called Cyberpunk, he’s a voice actor in Toy Story 3 and he recently released his latest instalment of John Wick “John Wick chapter three”
During the SDCC panel, Hideo Kojima went on and explained his reasons why he created Death Stranding, “When I first started my own production, the easiest thing for me to do is make a game where everyone is on an island and shoots each other… Creativity is what moves civilizations forward. We’re living in an era when creativity is dictated by algorithms that it becomes meaningless almost. It’s important to counter that.” ( IGN )
Death Stranding will be released on PS4 November 8th 2019.
